Psalm 23
(KJV)
1 The LORD [is] my shepherd; I shall not want. Want=covet - No need for covetousness - God gives us all we need.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
God makes us lie down in green pastures - He cares so much for us He requires us to rest in beautiful places.
He leads us to soul comforting in Him - if we let Him.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Soul-Spirit-Body - Analog to the Holy Trinity?
The world takes from and depletes our souls - God restores them.
Adam and Eve didn't follow the paths of righteousness - therefore death is ours.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou [art] with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. One of the defining characteristics of life in the flesh is that the shadow of death is always upon us.
Even though we are condemned to death because of sin, God stays with us and comforts us.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
We are annointed into God's kingdom as joint heirs with Jesus.
God blesses us against satan - spiting him and overpowering him.
Our blessings are uncountable.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Grace in response to faith - we are saved through the grace-faith continuum.
Goodness and love will follow us in the days of our fleshly life - and the reward of heaven - the House of the Lord - awaits us after our flesh leaves us.
